Telescopic Gate Automation · RS Technologies ChennaiA wide sliding gate where there is little room to slide
A normal sliding gate needs clear wall space at least as long as the opening itself. Many Chennai sites do not have that — a compound wall ends at a building, a neighbour’s plot or a drain. A telescopic gate solves this by splitting the gate into two or three leaves that slide over each other, so when it is open the leaves stack together and need only a fraction of the space. RS Technologies installs automated telescopic gates for factories, warehouses, logistics yards, schools, apartments and large homes.
How a telescopic gate works
The motor drives the leading leaf; the other leaves are linked to it and travel at different speeds, so all of them arrive at the open and closed positions together. The gate runs on parallel tracks — one for each leaf — or on a guided system, and the linkage between the leaves must be precisely set up so they run smoothly without jamming.
- Two-leaf telescopic gates need roughly half the side space of a single sliding gate
- Three-leaf gates need roughly a third, for very tight sites
- The full opening width stays clear for trucks and cars
Where telescopic gates make sense
- Factory and warehouse entrances that must take trucks but are boxed in by buildings
- Apartment and office entrances where a swing gate would block the driveway
- Plots where the compound wall on one side is too short for a single sliding leaf
- Sites with a slope that rules out swing gates
What we plan and install
A telescopic gate is a fabrication and automation job together. During the free site survey we measure the opening, the available side space and the ground level, and the written quote covers both the gate work and the automation, so nothing falls between two contractors.
- Industrial-grade sliding gate operator rated for the total weight of all leaves
- Tracks, rollers, guides and leaf linkage set up for smooth, synchronised travel
- Safety photocells and, on heavy gates, safety edges on the leading leaf
- Flashing warning light and clear signage
- Remotes, RFID tags or keypad access, and battery backup for power cuts
- Optional: a boom barrier for vehicle control alongside the gate

Service and maintenance
Telescopic gates have more moving parts than a single sliding gate, so regular maintenance — cleaning the tracks, checking the linkage and rollers, and testing the safety devices — keeps them running smoothly. We service and repair gate motors of all brands and offer AMC plans for busy industrial gates.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a telescopic gate?
A sliding gate split into two or three leaves that slide over each other, so the open gate takes up much less side space than a single sliding gate.
Can an existing sliding gate be converted to telescopic?
Sometimes, depending on the gate’s construction and the space available. We assess it on site; often new leaves and tracks are needed.
Is a telescopic gate suitable for heavy truck traffic?
Yes, with an industrial operator rated for the total gate weight and the number of daily operations, and with regular maintenance.
Will it work in a power cut?
Yes, with battery backup, and the gate can be released and opened by hand.
